Week 16: Seahawks vs. Cardinals Analysis
Week 16 - AZ @ SEA
Opponent Analysis
Hello everyone! Welcome to the first Opponent Analysis on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be covering the Arizona Cardinals as they head into a Week 16 matchup against the Seahawks. Let's look at all the different parts of the game and see how the Cardinals have been performing in the last three games.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and am biased towards the Seahawks so please take everything with a grain of salt.
RED = Worse than Seahawks
GREEN = Better than Seahawks
Better/worse calculated by yards per carry, QB rating and scoring defense in games that same week
The Passing Game - Carson Palmer
New Orleans - 70.0% completion rate, 318yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
@ Miami - 54.5% completion rate, 145yds, 2 TD, 2 INT
Washington - 65.2% completion rate, 300yds, 3 TD, 0 INT
The Running Game - David Johnson
New Orleans - 53 rush yards, 4.4 yards per carry
@ Miami - 80 rush yards, 4.0 yards per carry
Washington - 84 rush yards, 4.7 yards per carry
Defense
New Orleans - 1 TFL, 0 turnover margin, 48 points allowed
@ Miami - 8 TFL, -1 turnover margin, 26 points allowed
Washington - 1 TFL, +2 turnover margin, 23 points allowed
As you can see, despite Arizona's less-than-mediocre 5-8-1 record, they have still been playing somewhat impressively over the last three games. However, in two of the three games it still was not enough to give them a win. The Arizona Cardinals have had a disappointing season after going 13-3 last year, when Carson Palmer set multiple records and had a wonderful year. The Seahawks are favored to win by 7.5 points, although Seattle has been a bit back and forth the past few weeks and will need to prove they are still a scary playoff team like they did earlier in the year when they beat the New England Patriots in Foxborough. This analysis took a ton of research so please comment with any suggestions or simply if you enjoyed reading this. Also, if you haven't already, please follow @SeahawksPolls on Twitter. Thank you!
