Friday Practice Report/Game Status Analysis - Dec. 30

Hello there! Welcome to another Game Status entry on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be analyzing the practice/game status reports of both teams. The Friday Practice Report itself is somewhat meaningless as only the game status really matters.

First, let's look at the Seahawks. Once again, the only player out is CJ Prosise, but this practice report is hiding the fact that Earl Thomas and Tyler Lockett are on IR.  . . On the positive side, any other injuries mentioned this week weren't anything to worry about.

For the 49ers, three offensive linemen are out. This is terrible for them as they aren't exactly known with a) a team with a good offensive line or b) a team with good depth so this could prove to be a disaster. Also take into consideration that the last time the Seahawks visited the 49ers in Santa Clara, the Seahawks sacked Colin Kaepernick six times. Let's view San Francisco's questionable players. First we have Dontae Johnson, who is the team's CB3. Shouldn't be a huge deal, but hard to tell right now. Next, Joe Staley. The team's best offensive linemen has missed the last three games with a hamstring injury. Lastly, we have Rashard Robinson, who is also dealing with a hamstring injury. He is a starting corner for the 49ers so him being out would likely be a problem

If you have any questions or comments, please comment them down below or tweet me @SeahawksPolls. Overall, the Seahawks are undoubtedly healthier than the 49ers. We'll have to see if that gives them an advantage in this divisional game.

NEWS: Michael Bennett Agrees to 3-Year Contract Extension

This morning has come with some good news for Seahawk fans. According to several sources, Michael Bennett has agreed to a three-year, $33 million contract.

Michael Bennett has made his wish for a contract extension clear for a while now. Back in 2015, safety Kam Chancellor notoriously held out training camp and multiple games. People suspected Michael Bennett might do the same, as they both wished for a contract extension. Michael Bennett, however, never did, and it worked out well as he had two sacks in the three games missed by Chancellor. Will Kam Chancellor be the next talented Seahawks defender to receive an extension? We'll have to wait and see.

Thursday Practice Report Analysis - Dec. 29

Welcome to this week's Thursday Practice Report Analysis! Remember, in tomorrow's Practice Report Analysis, we will also view the injury/game status report of the 49ers.

CJ Prosise (shoulder) - Not much to say. C.J. Prosise has been working out, according to Coach Carroll yesterday, however is still a few weeks away from a return. A return for the Divisional Round (if the Seahawks make it there) would be the earliest. Most likely, the Seahawks will have to wait until the Conference Championship (again, if they get there) to have Prosise return.

Jimmy Graham (NIR) - Only even on the list because of rest day yesterday.
Kam Chancellor (ankle) - Expected to play Sunday.
Thomas Rawls (shoulder) - Thomas Rawls has said he really wants to play against the 49ers, and it seems likely at this point.

Thank you for reading! Please comment with any suggestions, comments or questions.

Week 17: Seahawks @ 49ers Analysis

Week 17 - SEA @ SF
Opponent Analysis

Hello everyone! Welcome to the second Opponent Analysis on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be covering the San Francisco 49ers as they head into a Week 17 NFC West matchup against the Seahawks. Let's look at all the different parts of the game and see how the 49ers have been performing in the last three games.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and am biased towards the Seahawks so please take everything with a grain of salt.

RED = Worse than Seahawks
GREEN = Better than Seahawks
Better/worse calculated by yards per carry, QB rating and scoring defense in games that same week

The Passing Game - Colin Kaepernick
@ LA - 75.7% completion rate, 266yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
@ Atlanta - 60.6% completion rate, 183yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
New York Jets - 57.7% completion rate, 133yds, 1 TD, 0 INT
The Running Game - Carlos Hyde
@ LA - 38 rush yards, 2.9 yards per carry
@ Atlanta - 71 rush yards, 5.5 yards per carry
New York Jets - 193 rush yards, 11.4 yards per carry
Defense
@ LA - 2 TFL, 0 turnover margin, 21 points allowed
@ Atlanta - 3 TFL, 0 turnover margin, 41 points allowed
New York Jets - 4 TFL, +1 turnover margin, 23 points allowed

The 49ers are 2-13. 2-13. They are the second-worst team in the NFL, and if they lose this week and the Browns win, they could be considered the worst. However, they still have been playing somewhat well over the last three games, excluding the passing game. Nonetheless, in two of the three games it still was not enough to give them a win. The Seahawks are favored to win by 9.5 points, and frankly they could easily win by much more. However, the Hawks have been up-and-down as of late. Yet, the majority of the sports world still believes that Seattle will win. A win would be no surprise -- so to make a statement heading into the playoffs, they need something bigger. A blowout perhaps. Maybe also a shutout? Something reminiscent of the 58-0 win against the Cardinals back in 2012. The Seahawks need to show that they could win Super Bowl LI.

Wednesday Practice Report Analysis - Dec. 28

Welcome to another Practice Report Analysis! Just a reminder, in the Friday Practice Report Analysis, we will also view the injury report of the 49ers.

CJ Prosise (shoulder) - Nothing new here. Still hoping for playoff return.
Jimmy Graham (NIR) - Just taking a usual rest day.
Kam Chancellor (ankle) - Expected to play Sunday.

Thomas Rawls (shoulder) - Thomas Rawls has said he really wants to play against the 49ers, but we'll have to wait and see. The Seahawks seem to be playing it safe by signing new halfbacks. With the emergence of Alex Collins, it may not matter too much if Rawls misses the game.

Friday Practice Report/Game Status Analysis - Dec. 23

Hello there! Welcome to the first Game Status entry on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be analyzing the practice/game status reports of both teams. The Friday Practice Report itself is somewhat meaningless as only the game status really matters.

First, let's look at the Seahawks. Compared to past weeks, the Seahawks are in very good shape health-wise. Any other injuries mentioned this week weren't anything to worry about, as they only player listed as out is C.J. Prosise, as expected.

For the Cardinals, D.J. Humphries and Marcus Cooper are both out. This could prove to be a problem for the Cardinals, as both Humphries and Cooper are starters at their respective positions. Questionable is Brandon Williams, who happens to be Cooper's backup -- that makes for quite a pickle, although the Cardinals have extra corners ready to go. John Brown is battling an illness and has played well against the Seahawks before, being the team's WR2. This means J.J. Nelson, who has been on fire in recent weeks, should receive more snaps this week.

Overall, the Seahawks are undoubtedly healthier than the Cardinals. Let's see if that gives them an advantage.

Thursday Practice Report Analysis - Dec. 22

Welcome to another Practice Report Analysis! Just a reminder, in the Friday Practice Report Analysis, we will also view the injury report of the Cardinals.

CJ Prosise (shoulder) - Nothing new here. Still hoping for playoff return.
Richard Sherman (NIR) - NIR means Non-Injury-Related, so probably just a rest day for Sherman.

Brock Coyle (foot) - No new updates, likely to play.
Michael Bennett (neck) - As mentioned in yesterday's post, should be good to go for Saturday.
Jon Ryan (concussion) - Ryan is still expected to play, although he has not quite yet been cleared from the concussion protocol. He should be cleared to punt today.

Thank you for reading! Please comment with any suggestions, comments or questions.

Wednesday Practice Report Analysis - Dec. 21

Welcome to the first Practice Report Analysis! I will be doing these for every practice every week. This week is starting off a little off-schedule, as the Seahawks play on Saturday this week, due to Sunday being Christmas. For this week's matchup against the Arizona Cardinals, there are thankfully a limited number of injuries that need to be dealt with for the Seahawks. In the Friday Practice Report Analysis, we will also view the injury report of the Cardinals.

CJ Prosise (shoulder) - Nothing new here. Still hoping for playoff return.
Michael Bennett (neck) - Coach Carroll anticipates Bennett to be fine to return for Saturday's game.

Jon Ryan (concussion) - Coach Carroll has said that Ryan should be out of the protocol and good to go for Saturday, but that the Hawks would be ready to sign a free agent punter.

Brock Coyle (foot) - Coyle missed the Rams game, but no new updates. The fact that he fully participated is good but should be taken with a grain of salt considering he fully participated before the last game. However, he could've just missed it with the Thursday game not giving him enough time to recover.

Thank you for reading! Please comment with any suggestions, comments or questions.

Week 16: Seahawks vs. Cardinals Analysis

Week 16 - AZ @ SEA
Opponent Analysis

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first Opponent Analysis on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be covering the Arizona Cardinals as they head into a Week 16 matchup against the Seahawks. Let's look at all the different parts of the game and see how the Cardinals have been performing in the last three games.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and am biased towards the Seahawks so please take everything with a grain of salt.

RED = Worse than Seahawks
GREEN = Better than Seahawks
Better/worse calculated by yards per carry, QB rating and scoring defense in games that same week

The Passing Game - Carson Palmer
New Orleans - 70.0% completion rate, 318yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
@ Miami - 54.5% completion rate, 145yds, 2 TD, 2 INT
Washington - 65.2% completion rate, 300yds, 3 TD, 0 INT
The Running Game - David Johnson
New Orleans - 53 rush yards, 4.4 yards per carry
@ Miami - 80 rush yards, 4.0 yards per carry
Washington - 84 rush yards, 4.7 yards per carry
Defense
New Orleans - 1 TFL, 0 turnover margin, 48 points allowed
@ Miami - 8 TFL, -1 turnover margin, 26 points allowed
Washington - 1 TFL, +2 turnover margin, 23 points allowed

As you can see, despite Arizona's less-than-mediocre 5-8-1 record, they have still been playing somewhat impressively over the last three games. However, in two of the three games it still was not enough to give them a win. The Arizona Cardinals have had a disappointing season after going 13-3 last year, when Carson Palmer set multiple records and had a wonderful year. The Seahawks are favored to win by 7.5 points, although Seattle has been a bit back and forth the past few weeks and will need to prove they are still a scary playoff team like they did earlier in the year when they beat the New England Patriots in Foxborough. This analysis took a ton of research so please comment with any suggestions or simply if you enjoyed reading this. Also, if you haven't already, please follow @SeahawksPolls on Twitter. Thank you!

NEWS: DE Damontre Moore Put On IR

The Seattle Seahawks have decided to place DE Damontre Moore on IR (Injured Reserve). According to HC Pete Carroll, the Seahawks will place Moore on IR because "his foot has not recovered." In the few games Moore did play in, he played unexpectedly well -- earning a half-sack and making four tackles -- without starting any of his four games. Early on Saturday morning, Moore was arrested for DWI. Coach Carroll hasn't yet made a final decision on the future of Damontre Moore and says there is not yet enough information about the arrest.
