Friday Practice Report/Game Status Analysis - Jan. 13 (Divisional Edition)

Hello there! Welcome to the second playoff Game Status entry.

Heading into a Divisional Round matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, there isn't much to talk about injury-wise. All the Falcons are healthy coming off a bye week and C.J. Prosise is questionable and, as stated yesterday, will be a game-time decision.

If you have any questions or comments, please comment them down below or tweet me @SeahawksPolls. Overall, the Falcons are healthier than the Seahawks but not by much. We'll have to see if that gives them an advantage in this divisional game.

Divisional Round - Seahawks @ Falcons Analysis

Wild Card - SEA @ ATL
Opponent Analysis

Hello everyone! Welcome to the second playoff Opponent Analysis on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be covering the Atlanta  Falcons as they head into a Divisional Round matchup against the Seahawks. Let's look at all the different parts of the game and see how the Falcons have been performing in the last three games.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and am biased towards the Seahawks so please take everything with a grain of salt.

RED = Worse than Seahawks
GREEN = Better than Seahawks
Better/worse calculated by yards per carry (by starter alone), QB rating and scoring defense in games that same week

The Passing Game - Matt Ryan
New Orleans - 75.0% completion rate, 331yds, 4 TD, 0 INT
@ Carolina - 81.8% completion rate, 277yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
San Francisco - 73.9% completion rate, 286yds, 2 TD, 0 INT
The Running Game - Devonta Freeman
New Orleans - 96 rush yards, 8.0 yards per carry
@ Carolina - 53 rush yards, 4.1 yards per carry
San Francisco - 139 rush yards, 7.0 yards per carry
Defense
New Orleans - 2 TFL, +1 turnover margin, 32 points allowed
@ Carolina - 2 TFL, +2 turnover margin, 16 points allowed
San Francisco - 3 TFL, 0 turnover margin, 13 points allowed

The Falcons have had an amazing season, going 11-5. They stole the #2 seed from the Seahawks and that is the reason this game is in Atlanta, not Seattle. When you look at the stats provided in this post, it looks like the Falcons clearly dominate the Seahawks in every department. However, it must be taken into consideration that the last three teams the Falcons faced have had a 15-33 record. In Week 6 of the regular season the Seahawks won 26-24. Can they do it again? Watch on Saturday to find out.

Friday Practice Report/Game Status Analysis - Jan. 6 (Wild Card Edition)

Hello there! Welcome to the first playoff Game Status entry (hopefully there will be many more) on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be analyzing the practice/game status reports of both teams. The Friday Practice Report itself is somewhat meaningless as only the game status really matters.

First, let's look at the Seahawks. Once again, CJ Prosise is unsurprisingly out. However, if the Seahawks advance to the Divisional Round, he is expected to start practicing again and perhaps play. Tony McDaniel's concussion was too much to handle this quickly (read the last Practice Report Analysis), so #93 won't be on the field tomorrow.

For multiple weeks, the opposing team has had more injured players than the Seahawks. That continues. The Lions have no players ruled out or doubtful, but four players being questionable is probably a concern for Lions fans. Let's start with DeAndre Levy. Levy is without a doubt the best Detroit linebacker. Him being out could be a game-changer. Riley Reiff is a starter as well, and the Seahawks pass rush is no joke with players like Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril. Andre Roberts, former Cardinals WR, is also questionable, yet he is not a starter and this probably isn't anything to worry about for Lions fans. However, the last and final member of the questionable list, Travis Swanson, is their starting center. If two offensive linemen end up being out for the Lions, Detroit will likely be in major trouble.

If you have any questions or comments, please comment them down below or tweet me @SeahawksPolls. Overall, the Seahawks are undoubtedly healthier than the 49ers. We'll have to see if that gives them an advantage in this divisional game.

Thursday Practice Report Analysis - Jan. 5 (Wild Card Edition)

Welcome to the second playoff Practice Report Analysis! Just a reminder, in tomorrow's Friday Practice Report Analysis, we will also view the injury report of the Lions.

Richard Sherman (NIR) - NIR means Non-Injury-Related, so probably just a rest day for Sherman.
Tony McDaniel (concussion) - Pete Carroll announced McDaniel will not make it back this week, and that the concussion was suffered against San Francisco (as opposed to in practice or elsewhere).

Michael Bennett (NIR) - Only on here because of rest day yesterday.

Wild Card Round: Seahawks vs. Lions Analysis

Wild Card - DET @ SEA
Opponent Analysis

Hello everyone! Welcome to the first playoff Opponent Analysis on The Seahawk Post. Today I will be covering the Detroit Lions as they head into a Wild Card matchup against the Seahawks. Let's look at all the different parts of the game and see how the Lions have been performing in the last three games.
Please keep in mind I am not a professional and am biased towards the Seahawks so please take everything with a grain of salt.

RED = Worse than Seahawks
GREEN = Better than Seahawks
Better/worse calculated by yards per carry (by starter alone), QB rating and scoring defense in games that same week

The Passing Game - Matthew Stafford
Green Bay - 63.4% completion rate, 347yds, 2 TD, 1 INT
@ Dallas - 56.5% completion rate, 260yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
@ New York Giants - 61.5% completion rate, 273yds, 0 TD, 1 INT
The Running Game - Zach Zenner
Green Bay - 69 rush yards, 3.5 yards per carry
@ Dallas - 67 rush yards, 5.6 yards per carry
@ New York Giants - 12 rush yards, 4.0 yards per carry
Defense
Green Bay - 1 TFL, -1 turnover margin, 31 points allowed
@ Dallas - 3 TFL, -2 turnover margin, 42 points allowed
@ New York Giants - 2 TFL, -2 turnover margin, 17 points allowed

The Lions have had an up-and-down season. They've been famous for their offense this season, but since star quarterback Matthew Stafford has had his finger injured, they have not been playing the same. Matthew Stafford has had at least one interception in each of the last four games, against one or two mediocre defenses. We'll have to wait and see if the Seahawks can exploit that. Zach Zenner, named the best white runningback in the NFL by Michael Bennett, has been playing much better than Thomas Rawls, whose play has been painfully decreasing. In terms of defense, the Lions have been allowing a lot of points and the Seahawks clearly outplay them in that department. Seahawks statistically have played better than the Lions, but their inconsistencies cannot be ignored. Tune in to NBC at 5:15 P.M. PT on Saturday to see how it all plays out.

NEWS: Seahawks Sign Devin Hester

Today there is even more breaking news after the signing of LS Tyler Ott. According to FOX News, Seahawks have signed return-man Devin Hester. This comes after the injury to Seahawks star receiver/returner Tyler Lockett. Hester started his accomplished career in Chicago with the Bears, and has since played for the Falcons and the Ravens. Hester has 20 combined special teams touchdowns in his career, an NFL record. Hester has set numerous other NFL records and an incredible amount of franchise records with the Chicago Bears. Hester's prime was clearly with the Bears, but has still shown he can play well, especially in Week 13 of 2015 where he had a punt return TD. This is a good move for the Seahawks, especially considering when Richard Sherman was handling punts against the 49ers, most were fair catches. How will this signing turn out? We'll have to wait and see.

NEWS: Frese Out - Ott In

Today we have breaking news. As you probably know, Seahawks long snapper Nolan Frese played through an ankle injury during Sunday's game. He had one bad snap to punter Jon Ryan as a result. Nolan Frese has now been placed on IR and Tyler Ott has come in to replace him. Ott will take the snapping duties and has some experience, earlier playing three games with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Seahawks To Play Lions in Wild Card Round & 2017 Opponents Determined

Hello everyone! If you were watching yesterday's game against the San Francisco 49ers, and the Falcons-Saints game, you would know the Seahawks have locked up the #3 seed. Going into the Sunday Night Football matchup between Green Bay and Detroit, it was known that the winner would host the Seahawks in the 2017 regular season and the loser would play the Seahawks during Wild Card Weekend. As it turns out, Green Bay won. Seems awesome, right? Wouldn't want to have to play Green Bay in the playoffs? Sure, it's good for now. But this also means that for a third straight year the Seahawks will go to Lambeau Field for a regular season game. Now that the season is over, all of the Seahawks' 2017 opponents have been determined and will be in this post. As for the order of the games, we won't know until next summer.
